Sigourney Weaver is an actress best known for her role in the Alien film series. She received worldwide recognition for her part of Ellen Ripley and was later dubbed "The Sci-Fi Queen".

Weaver shot to fame during the mid 1980's with the release of the first "Aliens" picture and continued to appear on the big screen through the 90's as the series concluded with Alien: Resurrection in 1997.

Other notable projects of hers include Gorillas in the Mist (1988), The Ice Storm (1997), Working Girl (1988), and Death and the Maiden (1994). From her work in these titles Sigourney was able to garner three Academy Award nominations as well as two Golden Globe awards (Gorillas in the Mist and Working Girl).

In 2009 Sigourney Weaver starred in the Lifetime Movie Network's Prayers for Bobby as well as James Cameron's Avatar, the latter of which proved to be a giant success.
