6. Cosplay Galore

Comic fans from across the country have spent weeks laboring over sewing machines, carpentry tables and forges in anticipation of their favorite convention. Come April 11th, the streets of Pittsburgh will be flooded with droves of America's most elite cosplayers.

Each year thousands flock to Steel City Con in full costume, eager to show off their devotion to their favorite series - and, of course, to showcase their epic crafting skills. There's also a costume contest offering prizes, trophies and cash to the year's best cosplayers, but that's really just an added bonus.

The costume contest will be judged based on criteria that include originality, craftsmanship and overall design. While thoroughness and enthusiasm are encouraged, dangerous costume elements such as fire, pyrotechnics and functional weapons are not permitted. Costumes, language and gestures must all be in good taste to avoid disqualification. Children ages 12 and younger will be judged within their own category, but they must be accompanied by an adult.

5. Awesome Artists

Artists' tables are a staple of every great convention, but few can boast such a robust collection of artists as this year's convention. Steel City Con unites 20 of the United States' best comic book artists and illustrators, gathering the most promising newcomers and most nationally acclaimed artists all under one roof. Each artist has a table offering autographs, sketches and merchandise. Among their ranks this year are the renowned Greg Horn and Neal Adams. Greg Horn is an incredibly well-rounded comic artist, whose art has been featured in various works of Marvel, DC, Image, Top Cow and Zenescope. Neal Adams was one of the artists behind the DC Comics heroes Superman, Batman and Green Arrow. He is also well-known for his work in Marvel's X-Men.

4. Wrangly Wrestlers

Among the many celebrities making an appearance at Steel City Con this year are two wrestlers in the WWE Hall of Fame: George "The Animal" Steele and Bruno Sammartino.

George Steele was one of the most beloved and iconic wrestlers of his era. After retiring from wrestling, he starred in Tim Burton's "Ed Wood," playing the role of Tor Johnson. He will be at the convention on Saturday and Sunday and has a question-and-answer session scheduled for 5:00 p.m. Saturday.

Bruno Sammartino was the longest-reigning World Heavyweight Champion of the WWE and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame by Arnold Schwarzenegger. His professional wrestling debut took place in Pittsburgh, and now he's returning to the city of his roots to spend time with his fans. He will stop by the convention to sign autographs Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
