Steven Soderbergh is an Academy-Award winning director. In 2000 he directed two major motion pictures that would become his most successful films to date: Erin Brockovich and Traffic. Both films were nominated for Best Picture at the 2001 Oscars, an achievement which gave Soderbergh the first twin director nomination in almost 60 years. That night he also took home an Academy Award for Best Director for his work on Traffic.
That same year, Soderbergh directed Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Julia Roberts & Matt Damon in a re-make of Ocean's Eleven (2001). The film wound up being ultra-successful at the box office and was a hit with critics. Naturally, he helmed the next two sequel films, namely Ocean's Twelve (2004) and Ocean's Thirteen (2007).
Some of Steven Soderbergh's more recent directing projects include the films Contagion, Haywire, and Magic Mike.
