August 25th, you can enjoy a heartwarming and touching dramatic comedy, Sunshine Cleaning, available as a Blu-ray release from Anchor Bay Entertainment and Overture Films. The movie is directed by Christine Jeffs (Rain, Sylvia).
Two sisters, Rose (Amy Adams) and Norah Lorkowski (Emily Blunt) decide to team up in a niche cleaning service called Sunshine Cleaning. Together, they work their way into a formidable duo in the marketplace for cleanup of bloody post-death situations.
Rose is the older sister who is an only mother and the leader. She is struggling to get on her feet and is in the middle of an affair. Norah is the younger sister who has still not come to grips with the reality that her other killed herself long before she had a chance to get to know her.
As they ease into the business, things appear to be headed in the right direction. However, turmoil ensues when Norah accidentally burns down the home of a client, putting Rose in horrible financial condition.
Sunshine Cleaning is a compelling character-driven story that also stars Alan Arkin as the dad. Amy Adams and Emily Blunt are talented and at their best. This is Emily Blunt’s best performance and Adams is great as usual. Alan Arkin always manages to add a nice humor element to his appearances as well. You will enjoy this entertaining, emotional, and insightful movie.
