Reel CultureReel Culture: 50 Classic Movies You Should Know About (So You Can Impress Your Friends) is  a must have for any movie buff or wannabe who needs to get up to speed on pop culture as it relates to classic movie lines, cast and film tidbits and more.  Written by Mimi O’Connor, this fascinating book from Zest Books is available November 2009.

You may think you know everything you need to know about classic movies, but Reel Culture challenges even the greatest movie fan’s “MQ”.  The book takes a historical look at classic films beginning with Bringing Up Baby (1938) and moving through Silence of the Lambs (1991).

Each of the 50 movies presented in Reel Culture includes:

  • Snappy film synopsis and cast list
  • Famous lines and most memorable moments
  • Little-known tidbits about the films, directors, and actors
  • Explanations of how each movie influenced culture and cinema
  • Official movie stills

Reel Culture is brilliant.  You can review some of the great dramatic or best funny movie quotes, learn more about your favorite movies and stars, and most importantly, arm yourself with pop culture knowledge that will truly help you shine in water cooler conversations!  There is mature content in the book so it is intended for audiences of teens and older.

Movies explored in Reel Culture include:  Psycho, Annie Hall, Saturday Night Fever, Casablanca, Rebel Without a Cause, The Godfather, Bonnie and Clyde, Jaws, The Breakfast Club, The Exorcist and Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
