Analyzing the quality of a supernatural horror thriller movie is a difficult task indeed. Fans of the horror genre seek different things for entertainment value. Some want blood and guts, others want a creepy feeling, and what about the depth and believability of the story.
The Unborn is strong in terms of the creepiness factor. Nice special effects and chilling sounds, appropriately placed, give a truly haunting feel to the viewer. The blood and guts factor is limited, but there is some intense action at the climax of the story. The story is a bit on the far-fetched side, though you have to give them credit for semi-original thinking. And the plot is easy enough to follow that it allows a nice cast led by Yustman and Gigandet to create the fear factor needed make The Unborn a decent horror flick.
