Available May 12th from MTI Studios, the Dove-Family Approved Train Master is a touching family movie directed by Phil Bransom, who dedicated the film to the memory of his son Douglas (1998-2006), who was an avid train enthusiast. Douglas was tragically lost the year before filming of the movie began.
Jeremiah works for the Western Railroad in the Pacific Northwest. The rails are his life. After Brett Banner, heir to the New York Eastern, purchases the Western Railroad, he quickly fires Jeremiah. However, Brett’s nine-year-old son Justin, as well as Jeremiah’s grandchildren, Thomas and Sarah and two other children, wind up stuck on a runaway train together. This forces the two men to put aside their differences to save the kids.
Starring Michael Biesanz, Jonathan Hall, Mercedes Rose, and Elijah Nelson, Train Master offers a story of adventure, drama, and most importantly, values for both adults and children to learn from. Brett is greedy and is focused on his job, but the reality of nearly losing his son should help restore his priorities. Jeremiah must leave vengeance and anger behind to be a hero. The kids also have to learn to respect and trust each other in a tough situation.
Train Master is a nice family-friendly movie. The acting and scripting are a bit underwhelming at times, but the story is a quality one. This is a nice movie for parents to watch with young children to share conversation about the values presented. Things start off a bit slow, so give the movie time to develop.
