Vera Farmiga has joined the cast of 'The Drummer'.

The 'Up in the Air' star will play the part of Christine McVie in the biopic about Beach Boys drummer Dennis Wilson, which is being directed by Randall Miller.

Aaron Eckhart will be Dennis in the movie, which will chart the last six years of his life up until 1983, and is believed to be deep into training for the part, learning both the drums and piano as well as preparing vocally.

Vera will also be required to sing in the part, according to Miller, who said: ''She has a number of duets with Eckhart in the film.''

Filming is due to begin on the project - produced by Wilson's children Carl and Jennifer - on June 15.

Vera will next been seen in Denzel Washington's 'Safe House' and has roles lined up in 'A View from the Bridge', where she will play Beatrice Carbone, and 'The Locals' alongside Shirley MacLaine and Alan Arkin.
