PROMETHEUS TRIUMPHANT: A FUGUE IN THE KEY OF FLESH
The Plague has come to the small village of Bezirksstadt.
All fall to the sharp sickle of Death. Manfred and his fellow Physicians are baffled at finding any way to combat the disease and save the townspeople.
Janick, a young doctor with radical medical theories about life and death, tries to bring hope in the form of an electrical device capable of re-animating dead tissue. He is decried a heretic and he is cast out.
Meanwhile the Plague claims another victim: Esmeralda, Manfred's only daughter and the love of Janick.
The Creator, his face hidden behind a porcelain mask, dedicates himself to finishing what Janick began. Finding Janick's one and only love has become another of the Plague's casualties, he exhumes her and brings her lifeless body back to his sanctum. There he begins the process to bring Esmeralda back to life.
Encouraged by his initial success, The Creator is nevertheless stymied as he realizes that the resurrected Esmeralda is little more than a shell of her former self. Driven by his affection, he sets about the painstaking task of rehabilitating her.
But the more self-awareness Esmeralda gains, the more curious she becomes of her new surroundings, and the identity of her new masked companion. As the relationship between the two outcasts begins to intensify the two hapless lovers are driven to a final, fateful conclusion.
