Vin Diesel plans 6th and 7th Fast and Furious films
Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and Jordana Brewster reprise their roles in this fifth movie from the "Fast & The Furious" series. Since breaking Dom out of custody, Brian (Walker) and Mia Toretto (Brewster) have been on the run with their ex-con friend, blowing through borders to elude the authorities. Now backed into a corner in Rio de Janeiro, they must pull one last high-risk job in order to gain their freedom.
Vin Diesel has confirmed there will be a six and seventh movie in the 'Fast and Furious' series.
The star and producer of the franchise - about the culture of underworld racing - believes the story would be too big to fit into just one further film and thinks two are needed.
He told The Hollywood Reporter: "With the success of this last one, and the inclusion of so many characters and broadening the scope, when we were sitting down to figure out what would fit into the real estate of number six, we didn't have enough space.
"We have to pay off this story, we have to service all of these character relationships and when we started mapping all that out it just went beyond 110 pages. The studio said, 'You can't fit all that story in one damn movie!' "
The last film in the franchise, 'Fast Five', took $626 million at the box office worldwide and generated some of the best reviews the franchise has had.
It is not known if the movie will be two separate films or two standalone pictures.
