Reese Witherspoon to star in "Inherent Vice"
Reese Witherspoon is to star in 'Inherent Vice'.
The 37-year-old actress will reteam with her 'Walk the Line' co-star Joaquin Phoenix in the movie, which will also star Owen Wilson Benicio del Toro, Martin Short and Jena Malone.
The film is based on a cult novel by Thomas Pynchon and is set in the 1970s. It follows Larry 'Doc' Sportello, a stoner private detective, who helps a former lover with an intriguing and complicated case, which involves infidelity, mental institutions and a policeman called 'Bigfoot'.
Director Paul Thomas Anderson - who had been due to work with Witherspon in 'The Master', but her role eventually went to Amy Adams - is ready to start work on the project, despite initial funding concerns, and filming is expected to commence this summer.
'Inherent Vice' is the latest in a string of new projects for Witherspoon.
She recently signed up to star with Keanu Reeves in sci-fi adventure 'Passengers', and will appear in Fox comedy 'Get Her Off The Pitch', as well as working on 'Three Little Words' with her 'Walk the Line' director James Mangold.
She can currently be seen on screen in 'Mud' and has 'Devil's Knot' and 'The Good Lie' also scheduled for release in the coming months.
