Steven Spielberg's European history
Steven Spielberg believes Americans have less regard for history
The 'War Horse' director - who has made a number of pictures set in Europe, including his latest World War I movie and 'Schindler's List' - thinks Europeans are more in touch with their history than his fellow Americans are.
Steven told BANG Showbiz:"I think my regard for history is more of a European regard for history. Social media has taken over in America to such an extreme that to get my own kids to look back a week in their history is a miracle, let alone 100 years. Europe is closer to history.
"I think that I have more proximity to the Europeans in that way.
Chatting about the physical location of 'War Horse', Steven said the film's picturesque setting in Devon, south west England, became an integral part of the film.
He said: "The Devon location has some of the most natural wonders in all of England. There's nothing like it.
"The original script didn't have the budget to go to Devon, but we stretched the budget a little to allow us to go there, and it was worth every penny."
