Jessica Brown Findlay for "Frankenstein"

September 12th, 2013

Jessica Brown Findlay is in talks to join 20th Century Fox's 'Frankenstein' remake.

The 'Downton Abbey' actress - who is best known for playing Lady Sybil Crawley in the hit period drama - is closing in on the lead female role in the gothic horror movie, starring alongside Daniel Radcliffe and James McAvoy, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Director Paul McGuigan's big screen adaptation of Mary Shelley's classic novel will be told from the perspective of hunchbacked Igor, to be played by the 'Harry Potter' actor, as he assists Dr. Victor Frankenstein (McAvoy) in creating his famous monster.

Findlay will play a trapeze artist, who after being saved by Igor following a horrific accident, becomes close to the misfit character.

John Davis is producing the movie, while 'Chronicle' screenwriter Max Landis penned the script.

Shooting is set to commence in London and Scotland later this year.

Findlay shot to fame as one of the three Crawley sisters in 'Downton Abbey', but quit her role last year after three series. She has since starred in TV drama 'Labyrinth' and British independent movie 'Albatross', and recently finished shooting her first Hollywood movie, 'Winter's Tale', which co-stars Will Smith and Colin Farrell.
