Omar Sy has been cast in 'X-Men: Days of Future Past'.

The French actor is the latest addition to the superhero blockbuster film which will see cast members from both 'X-Men: First Class' and the original 'X-Men' trilogy reprise their roles.

The 35-year-old star earned critical acclaim for his performance in 2011 French film, 'The Intouchables', for which he won the Cesar Award - France's equivalent to the Oscar - for Best Actor.

'X-Men' director Bryan Singer announced Omar's casting on his Twitter account, writing: ''Thrilled to welcome the brilliant #OmarSyfrom the amazing film #TheIntouchables to the cast of #Xmen #DaysofFuturePast! (sic)''

Omar is the second newcomer to join the franchise in the superhero sequel along with 'Game of Thrones' actor Peter Dinklage. However, their exact roles in the flick are unknown at this time.

The film's already sizeable cast includes 'X-Men: First Class' actors James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult, as well as original 'X-Men' stars Sir Ian McKellen, Sir Patrick Stewart, Hugh Jackman, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page and Shawn Ashmore.

The film will centre on the theme of time travel as the older 'X-Men' reach out to their younger 'First Class' incarnations to stop a future genocide of mutants.
