Zachary Quinto didn't know Star Trek 2 storyline

Zachary Quinto didn't see a script for the 'Star Trek' sequel until mid-December.

The 34-year-old actor - who stars as Vulcan character Spock in the reboot of the sci-fi TV series - has been shooting on the J.J. Abrams-directed follow-up for nearly two weeks, and admits filming so far has been ''incredible'', but adds he didn't even know the story until last month.

He said: ''It's been really great. We've been shooting for a week and a half and it's been an incredible return to that world.

''It was the middle of December and finally I had to be like, 'We need to read the script!'

''They waiting a pretty long time, but that's because they were working on it. There was a writer's strike the first time so they weren't able to let the script evolve. Now it's really changing, on a regular basis.''

The sequel sees the inclusion of some new characters, played by British stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Alice Eve, and he admits everyone has been getting on well with the additional cast.

He added to E! News: ''All of them have folded in so beautifully and brought a whole new level of intelligence and sensitivity.''

The storyline for the follow-up to the 2009 film has been a closely guarded secret, but it is known Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana and Simon Pegg are all returning to the franchise.
